James Monro EP

 ( Flow ,  May. 2004 )

A. Battered 8:42 B. Deeper 8:34

King James, king of hypnotic psychedelia of Flying Rhyno (RIP) fame, is back. And he gives an opportunity for all those who still associate psycedelia with lotsa noises and scratches to realize there are other intense realms of psychedlia. That the psychedelic can lye in those little almost unnoticed things and sounds. Both tracks here are totally hypnotic and monotone, while at the same time packed with feel, and changing and evolving all the time- in the little things. Totally hypnotic, totally trance.

Battered on the A side is mysterious and deep, starting dark and full of little twists, surprises and openings. Returning waves of sounds washing on the shores of your brain getting higher and higher till they totally drown you by the end of the track.
Deeper on the B side is deeper, slow and hypnotizing with a touch of tribalistic groove. Always changing, always twisting, always the small little changes in the loops and layers and sounds that make this EP such a psychedelic musical joyride. Excellent.

Recomendation:  THIS is trance. Need I say more? Welcome back James Monro, you were missed.
