Finally the long awaited album from this amazing dou- Erez Eizen (Shidapu, Shiva Shidapu. Read interview with Erez) and Amit Duvdevani (Duvdev). They have been spreading tracks around in some compilations making our appetite grow, and now the whole thing is here- and it was worth the wait! This is the new thing for me- a new sound in trance, a new sound in Israeli trance- complex, original, intelligent, emotional, happy and full on dancing stuff!
The CD starts with Release Me, for me this track is just a soundtrack for a short mysterious movie. Someone is locked down there somewhere and he wants to be released, he breaks out and starts running, they are after him (those dark zipping sounds), but he keeps running- will he be saved? I won't tell you the end of it, I'll just say that it's worth the wait.
The Gathering (T2), is a beautiful track that builds up slowly and in a very powerful way, adding sounds woven together to a brain killer melody. I love all those little percussion effects all around and the completely out of nowhere xylophone (or something like that) playing in the middle and building up to the explosion- a work of a genius!
Return of the Shadows (T3) has a funky jumpy feeling all along. A lot of surprising sounds all around and a great ending. Blue Muppet (T4) is a real fun track, with the mysterious creeping sounds that make the Infected Mushroom sound so familiar every time you hear it at a party. A great guitar line in the middle fits just perfect and then you get that beautiful melody to end it. Beautiful work with melodies, like in the rest of the CD!!! There are real musicians at work here.
Psycho (T5) was released on Goa Gil's Forest of Saints Avatar, 1998), but there it's only a short mixed version, here you get the full real thing- and well, it's PSYCHO! Montoya (T6) was released on UFS. Here is a remix of this track, love that piano and how it fits so well with those heavy psychedelic sounds.
Tomy the Bat (T7) is just a great track, probably my favorite here, the name and sample comes from the legendary Primus' cat. I got no words- just listen and enjoy this intelligent and emotional beautiful music. Virtual Voyage (T8) is actually a mix of Shidapu's old track (was released on SST- The Light of Shidapu)- not that you would recognize anything but the melody. My friends and I call it 'the electric farts track' (listen and try to figure it out), great energetic track to turn up the party with powerful psychomelodic build up- great melodic work- One of my favorites here. Over Mode ends this CD, it's a mix to Overload (released on Full On 2) with a bit of a different ending. |
