Well, what do you know, a fifth Infected Mushroom album is on the way! And this CD Single is the first taste of it in the much appreciated BNE habit.
Cities of the Future goes in line with some late Infected creations fusing the unique Infected trance sound and with lyrics, the outcome has a clear color of 80s new wave industrial sounds, featuring computer distorted Duvdev on the vocals.
The radio edit I will skip, as it basically takes out all the cool parts of the original and leaves us with a cold fish. The original Cities of the Future is another catchy Infected Mushroom a-la-Deeply Disturbed or I Wish that you'll find yourself singing constantly every time after hearing it. It's a nice song, with lotsa tricks and treats and turns, and the impossible blend of craziness & mayhem and totally clean Infected Mushroom production. Good dancefloor material that would have made me king of the vomit filled clubs of my youth if I could travel back in time. And yes, that line there reminds me of Guns N' Roses Paradise City. Next is Violet Vision's take on the Cities of the Future- and it's an excellent take. VV's dirty lo-tech sound and drunken groove makes this a real joy, everything just sits in place, nothing much to say but- perfect! Cream is a bonus trance track not to be featured on the album. A nice happy tune with sneaky cute melodies with the classical touch and explosive breaks and build-ups. I quite like it. |
